Really - a "space" should work just fine.  S&R should search for " " (space simulated in quotes) and replace it with "" if you don't type anything in the replace.

I'm a**uming you have tried this and it isn't working. I'll look into it.

Is it possible to replace replace the hard space string & n b s p ; (I have inserted the gaps so this page displays the 6 characters) with a a normal soft space please?

In other words, I need to know what to enter in the Replace box, as entering a single space doesn't work.

Hmm. That is interesting. 

I've never used Multi-Sites and I'm not sure how it works. If you can private mail me @ info@dcubedweb.com with some contact information I'll discuss this further with you.

I'm not sure how the script knows about any other databases other than the one for that site. Of course, like I said, I know nothing about multi-sites. I may need access to your box to take a look at what is going on when the script runs.

We have Search & Replace installed on several sites using JMS2Win's MultiSites and when using Search & Replace, it scans all the database tables on all sites rather than the individual site's tables to do a Search & Replace.  As a result, it times out when we attempt to do a Search & Replace.  I have tried increasing the timeout to 90 seconds, but that does not resolve the issue.

Please advise.

If memory serves me correctly, those question marks don't translate into real question marks as you and I see them.. Usually in the DB they are some strange code.

If you can send me a couple of records to info@dcubedweb.com - I'll import them into our development DB and take a look.

I am wondering if you can send me a couple of records from your database that you are trying to replace so I can do some testing here. Given what you sent to me - the replace should be working fine. I'd like to debug it here to see if I can find where it is failing.

I don't need your entire DB - just a dump of the record(s) in question.

Hi,

 I just imported an old Mambo database into Joomla 1.5 at http://cambodiaaction.org and all the non-breakg spaces, i.e.   translated into question marks, i.e. ?

I want to convert the question marks into spaces and have tried searching on '?' and replacing them with ' ' (including the apostrophes as a de-limiter) but it didn't work.

 Any ideas please?

Search works OK, but when I do "replace" i get "12 items replaced," but nothing has been changed. I'm trying to replace the string fooold.org/content/ with foonew.com/content/.

the text string is embedded in jos_content and in intro text. 

 I've tried it with and without the / marks (fooold.org to foonew.com). I've tried doing only one record, 10 and 12. I've done "Shutdown the website for maintenance", "Global checkin," and still not working.

i've tried it on another website. same issue.

running Joomla  1.5 in native mode, with one of the templates that came with Joomla (JA_Purity). I'm logged in as Super Administrator.

Any suggestions?
